A Simple Guide to Bus/RV Parking in Downtown Indianapolis

Wednesday, May 8, 2013 by Hilton Garden Inn Team

So you've perused all the downtown Indy hotels you could find and have decided on us. If you're from out of town, you may be using a rental coach or relying on our local public transportation. Either way, we want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Because of this, we want to keep you informed about our policies regarding parking. This will help to ease any stress you have while on your vacation (and we undoubtedly want to keep that at a minimum; after all, you're on vacation).

If you've taken advantage of our Indianapolis group travel options, you may have rented a bus to transport everyone more easily. In order to gain access to our onsite parking meters, you need to apply for a parking permit at least 14 days in advance. This application will be passed on to the City of Indianapolis by one of our managers. Once approved, a manager will forward the approval email to you, as well as information on paying for and printing the parking permit. The application fee is $32, while the processing fee is $85. The actual parking meters cost $21 a day, so please take all of these fees into consideration when deciding on parking options. If you are staying overnight, keep in mind that the night counts as one day and the morning counts as another. Also remember that a single bus requires three meters due to its length, but only five meters for two buses if they are parked back to back alongside our three star hotel Indianapolis.

ParkWhiz.com also offers parking options for buses, but their parking lot is only six blocks due south of our Indianapolis downtown hotel. Visit their website, type in “Indianapolis” and click the “find parking” link. You will then want to click on the LaRosa South Bus Parking Lot Reserve. To accurately reserve a space, you need to know your definite arrival and departure dates/times. Make sure that your bus is no longer than forty feet before you reserve a spot. Please see directional map below.

Our Premium Hotel and One Man's Trip to Dubai

Monday, April 8, 2013 by Hilton Garden Inn Team

Richard Letko, the general manager of our fine Hilton Garden Inn, has recently been recognized for the excellence of our Indianapolis downtown hotel. Thanks to staff participation and emphasis on cleanliness and guest service within our Indianapolis area hotel, Mr. Letko was sent on a trip to Dubai!

Mr. Letko, since the trip, has had nothing but good things to say about this country, which was founded in 1972 by seven sheiks. He is most impressed by the modernization of many of the buildings. Within Dubai, you will find the tallest building, largest mall, tallest hotel, and only seven star hotel in the world. Absolutely incredible!

Not only does Dubai have beautiful, modern buildings, but also palaces and mosques that are rich in culture and tradition. Mr. Letko has spoken highly of all the people he met there, whether locals or foreigners. While Dubai is in the middle east, it has a western feel to it as most signs have been translated into English and there are restaurants Americans will recognize immediately. On top of all this, the temperature during winter ranged from 75 to 90 degrees. Not so bad, huh?

Overall, Mr. Letko has nothing but pleasant things to say about his trip and is very proud of his staff for all the hard work they've done. The downtown Hilton Garden Inn has been scored as being within the top 5% of the Hilton Garden Inns in the Indianapolis region. Next time you're looking for hotels near Indianapolis, you'll know where to look for guaranteed satisfaction.

Star Hotel Downtown Indianapolis Supports Canned Food Drive

Thursday, December 6, 2012 by Hilton Garden Inn Team

Although the month of December usually involves a lot of shopping, it is also a traditional time of year to have a canned food drive because many people are in need for the extra food.

From now until December 30, 2012 we are having a canned food drive - all canned goods will be donated to the Julian Center.  The Julian Center helps victims of domestic violence get back on their feet and provides them a safe place to be until they can do just that.

If you are interested in helping out, please bring your canned goods to our green hotel Indianapolis and drop them off at the Front Desk of the hotel.

Not only do victims of domestic violence need a warm meal, but they also need a safe spot to lay their head.  We are also donating 180 lumbar/bolster pillows to help with this effort.

Thank you in advance for your help in providing hope and healing to the folks at the Julian Center.

What are some of the ways that you give back during the holiday season?  What sort of ideas do you have on ways that our newly renovated hotel Indianapolis can give back?

Indianapolis Downtown Hotel Goes Green with Clean the World Soap Recycling

Thursday, August 30, 2012 by Hilton Garden Inn Team

Our green hotel Indianapolis is becoming a whole lot greener and cleaner in 2012 with our participation in the Clean the World soap recycling program.  This innovative program collects and recycles products such as soap, shampoo and lotion that is typically discarded by hotels and bed and breakfast locations. The organization then recycles these items to create new products that are donated to homeless shelters and impoverished nations that suffer from high mortality rates because of infection.

With over 10 million bars of soap and hundreds of thousands of pounds of shampoo and conditioning products recycled, the program eliminates tons of waste while helping to keep those in need clean. Our housekeeping department works to collect leftover hygiene products and then place in provided bins for collection by the Clean the World Recycling Center. Soaps are sanitized to remove any bacteria and repackaged for distribution.

This is just one of the ways our Indianapolis Downtown hotel is committed to providing sustainable solutions that benefit our customers and the environment. For hotel reservations Indianapolis visitors can call our reservation hotline at (317) 955-9700 or visit our informative website to learn about special hotel packages, weekend getaway deals and event planning assistance.

3 Reasons To Do Rib America Festival Indianapolis

Thursday, August 2, 2012 by Lindsay Gill

Rib America Festival Banner

Rib America Festival.  Downtown Indianapolis.  Labor Day weekend.  2012.

You know this is one of my absolute favorite annual events in downtown Indianapolis if you pay attention to the blog.  I remember going even when I was in high school, driving 30+ minutes to come downtown at the Murat Centre parking lot.  The event has long since outgrown that small lot and now calls Military Park its home.

My top three reason you should do Rib America Festival this year:

1. GREAT FOOD - Of course this event is all about the eats.  Presented by Indiana Pork Farmers, you have the opportunity to sample some great smoked, dry rubbed or slathered meat from around the country.  Ribs, rib tips, pulled port, chicken, turkey...it's all there.  Corn bread, spiral cut potatoes, tons of sauces, grilled corn, funnel cakes...it's all there.  Yes, they serve booze, too.

2. GREAT LIVE MUSIC -

Let's kick things off with Friday night's lineup featuring:

  • Duke Tomatoe & The Power Trio - 5-6:30pm
  • Eddie Money - 7-8:30pm
  • George Clinton & The Parliament Funkadelic - 9-10:30pm

Saturday's lineup is something different for Rib Fest this year and I am SO excited to see this change in the schedule.  They are presenting a jam band day, which I will not miss.

  • Upshot - 12-1pm
  • Infamous Stringdusters - 1:30-2:30pm
  • Twin Cats - 3-4:30pm
  • The Werks - 5-6:30pm
  • Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk - 7-8:30pm
  • moe. - 9-11pm

Sunday:

  • Picture Yes - 12:30-2pm
  • Hunter Smith Band - 2:45-4:15pm
  • TBA - 5-6:30pm
  • Night Ranger - 7:15-8:45pm
  • Tesla - 9:30-11pm

Monday:

  • Flatbed Twitch - 12-1:30
  • Dude - 2-3:30pm
  • Blue Oyster Cult - 4-5:30pm
  • Cheap Trick - 6-7:30pm

3. PEOPLE WATCHING:

Always one of the best elements at any type of festival.  It's great to sit around and watch people walk, or stumble, by.  Check out the crowd having a great time.  Talk to your fellow festival-goers to find out which stand has the best sauce, best ribs, best deal.

The Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Downtown is proud to be the Official Hotel sponsor of this year's Rib America Festival...for the fifth consecutive year!  Our three star hotel downtown Indianapolis has some great offers for you as we partner once again with this year's festivities:

Rib America Indianapolis Hotel Package - Ribs & More includes your overnight guest room, breakfast for two in the restaurant, two admission tickets and 20 food and beverage tickets to use at Rib America Festival.  Click the link to find out more!

Rib America Indianapolis Hotel Deal - ROOM ONLY RATE includes only your Indianapolis hotel accommodations.

You may even run into the winner of this year's people's choice award...or a musician if you stay with us!
