Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Downtown Now Smoke Free

Tuesday, June 12, 2012 by Hilton Garden Inn Team

It’s official. As of June 1st, our hotel becomes a 100 percent non-smoking facility. Back in April, 2012 the Indianapolis mayor signed a smoking ban, which restricts smoking in all Downtown Indianapolis hotels,  restaurants, bars, entertainment centers and pretty much any public venue in the city.

The public smoking ban in Indy isn’t entirely new. Dating back to 2006, the city already banned smoking in the work place and restaurants. As of June 1, 2012, smoking is also banned in bars, bowling centers, nursing homes and hotel rooms in Marion County.

Smoking is allowed in Indianapolis cigar bars and hookah lounges, but owners will have to obtain a specialty bar license from the city. Cigarette smoking will also still be banned in these facilities even with the permit.

This newly issued Smoke Free Downtown Indy law was signed about a month after the State of Indiana instituted statewide smoking restrictions. Governor Mitch Daniels signed the smoking law, which goes into effect July 1st. The state law does provide exemptions for Indiana private clubs, tobacco stores, casinos and bars.

When looking for hotel accommodation Indianapolis visitors will now find that all of our luxury rooms are non-smoking. Give us a call today to find affordable Indianapolis hotel packages near all the popular Downtown Indy attractions.

Luck Comes to Indy with Peyton Manning Leaving the Colts

Thursday, March 15, 2012 by Hilton Garden Inn Team

As the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end,” and last week Indy’s own favorite star quarterback, Peyton Manning, was released from his position with the Indianapolis Colts. While the 4 time MVP is being courted by plenty of other NFL teams – namely the Broncos, Cardinals, Dolphins and Titans, Indy fans will surely miss the winning seasons and funny commercials that made him so beloved.

So while Manning decides which team to join, that doesn’t mean that Lucas Oil Stadium won’t be rocking when the Colts come back for next season. With Stanford standout, Andrew Luck, as quarterback, fans are sure to enjoy some legendary action when he hits the turf.  Of course, this is all speculation as the draft won't happen until the last weekend in April.  But Colts fans are crossing their fingers for a new start quarterback to replace Manning and assist in rebuilding a thinning team.

So NFL fans will want to get their Indianapolis Colt tickets early and plan on watching the new quarterback in action. Downtown Indy hotels are filling up quickly for the new season with excited fans planning to come out and support their team. As one of the premier hotels near Lucas Oil Stadium, the Hilton Garden Inn will keep you close to the all the football action with luxury rooms, fun amenities and nearby area attractions to keep you entertained and well fed in between games.

Plan on booking your reservations early at our historic hotel Indianapolis fans love, and enjoy the video memory below of Indy Colts’ number 18 in one of his fantastic commercials that will keep everyone laughing long after he has left our beloved city.

Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Makes the 1st & Green Leader Board

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 by Hilton Garden Inn Team

We are excited to announce that we recently made history by achieving the most water saved in business category through 1st & Green.  You can check out the results on the leader board on 1st & Green's website.

We were able to save nearly 150,000 gallons of water - which is quite a triumph for a hotel.  Of course, we have to thank our guests too - without them it would not have been possible.

1st & Green is a web-based program that allows different groups and individuals to participate in a challenge to see who can save the most water and carbon.

Groups were allowed to register in five categories:

  • businesses
  • non-profits
  • government
  • schools K-12
  • other groups

This year's challenge ran through the 2012 Super Bowl and the idea was to help offset the environmental impact of the 2012 Super Bowl.

Here's a photo of our Director of Sales, Mitch Divens, accepting award:

Also important to mention, we came in 5th place for carbon emission savings - we saved 1862 carbon units.

Downtown Indy’s Super Bowl Village Festival

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 by Hilton Garden Inn Team
Super Bowl XLVI is just days away, and Indianapolis visitors won’t want to miss the Super Bowl Village prior to the big day. This family friendly venue is completely free and offers 10 whole days of football festive fun in Downtown. Starting on January 27th through February 5th, Super Bowl Sunday, there will be entertainment, food, video game play and lots more for residents and visitors to enjoy.

This year’s rocking them is the Epicenter of Awesome and features unique events that can’t be seen anywhere else. Capital Avenue will host the longest zip line in the U.S. and two human “hamster wheels” will be rolling through in the Super Dash competition. Kids and adults alike will get their Kinect gaming on in an inflated dome while Food Network’s Ice Brigade hosts, Randy Finch and Derek Maxfield, provide live performances of ice sculpting.

And of course, there will be lots of tailgate action for everyone as ESPN broadcasts from the event. Learn more by visiting the Super Bowl Village site.

For hotels near Lucas Oil Stadium, the site of the Super Bowl game, visitors to the city are sure to find just the right accommodations from Downtown Indy Hotels ready to provide food and lodging to keep you going until Sunday’s game, the first Super Bowl ever played in Indy.
