Happy Holidays from the Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Downtown!
When you give downtown Indy a visit, you will be spoiled with choices when you look for things to do. Book one of the
hotels near Indianapolis airport (Hilton Garden Inn is one of them) and get ready for a relaxing, yet fun-filled week or weekend as the case may be.
While not much happens on week days elsewhere, downtown Indy’s quite different. There’s something happening here every day of the week. This summer,
Indianapolis Museum Of Art is the place to be on Friday nights.
Every Friday from the 3rd of June to the 26th of August, the IMA will screen a movie in its spectacular outdoor amphitheater. Initiated way back in 1976,
the Summer Night Film Series has screened 283 films ranging from black and white classics to modern hits. This year’s film schedule includes amongst others, Clerks, Poltergeist, Grease and Labyrinth. You can either book your tickets online or onsite. The movie starts at 9.00 pm.
At our newly renovated hotel Indianapolis we’ll tell you about all that’s happening around downtown, so you have something to enjoy all the time. On Friday evening you can leave the hotel with food, non-alcoholic beverages, blankets and bug repellants and head to the IMA for an evening of relaxed fun.
Get in touch with us for the
best hotel deal Indianapolis. We look forward to meeting you.

The
Indianapolis International Film Festival is coming up next month! It begins July 14 at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, located about four miles north of our downtown Indy hotel. This is the eighth year of the Indy Film Fest and it's become one of the Midwest’s fastest-growing and most-watched film festivals..."
Films will be exhibited from filmmakers around the country and around the world. I'm particularly excited to see "Clerks"! Remember my blog about the list of things I want to do in Indy this summer? Well, an outdoor movie at the
Indianapolis Museum of Art is one of them and luckily I can combine "Clerks" outdoor movie at the IMA with the Indy Film Fest!
You can even get a sneak preview of the festival's films and events on Thursday, June 16. From 6-9pm at
Sun King Brewery, the Festival will show some trailers. Enjoy a pint of Sun King's tasty craft beer, food provided by Scratch Food Truck, music and more.
Our Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Downtown has partnered with the Festival to help sponsor this year's events. We have offered a very special rate from July 14-24 of $99 for any person wanting to stay the night. You can make your Indianapolis hotel reservation by booking online at

Summer is almost here! I know the staff of the our downtown Indy hotel loves this season. Being so close to Monument Circle and one of the hotels near Conseco Fieldhouse and the Murat, we have quick access to so many events going on!
I have recently made a list of some things I'd like to do with my guy this summer. Some I've experienced, some I have not. Let me list some off for you and we'll get some ideas flowing!
- Attend a film at the Indianapolis Museum of Art
- Outdoor, summer evening films. The Sandlot, Zoolander, Mommie Dearest and more!
- Revisit the Indianapolis Zoo
- They've added some animals since my last visit.
- Bicycle the Monon/Central Canal
- I have a cruiser now so little hills kill me. But it looks so nice to chill out and maybe stop at Huddle Frozen Yogurt on 86th Street for a cool treat!
- Go to a concert at The Lawn
- I already plan on seeing Umphrey's McGee, The Black Keys and The Avett Brothers there. If you've read some of my posts, music = life.
- Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's Marsh(R) Symphony on the Prairie
- Another I miss year after year. I'm determined to visit Conner Prairie this year for some symphonic renditions of popular music.
- Rib America Festival
- This is one of the best weekends downtown. Four days of music, sun, and of course some of the best bbq in the country! you might catch me there every day. See my upcoming blog about this event and check out our Indianapolis hotel package for an amazing deal!!
- Visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
- It's race weekend but I'll be out of town for a four-day music festival in Illinois. So...maybe I'll visit for Brickyard 400 or Red Bull Indianapolis GP is my only chance of the year. We are one of the downtown hotels near Indianapolis Speedway...so it's not too far from work!
- Rock & Roll BBQ
- A new event to Indy at Victory Field. Country music and rock & roll with more bbq! I think this is 4th of July's answer to Labor Day's Rib Fest. Music and food? I'm IN! What about you? We still have the availability for you to make your Indianapolis hotel reservations and attend this first year event!
Well, those are some of the things I want to do in Indy this year. Other things I'd like to do are out of city/state: That four-day music festival this weekend, Phish in Ohio next weekend, camping in Hoosier National Forest, road trip to Florida to see my parents....it'll be a good summer.
What do you like to do in and around Indy in the summer? Share some of your faves!

Gone are the days of the 75 cents an hour parking in downtown, Broad Ripple and Mass Ave. Though we've been quite lucky considering the price to park at a metered spot in these areas hasn't changed in three decades, it still puts a little sting at the thought of yet another price increase. ParkIndy has begun installation of the new parking meter caps.
No more parking for 75 cents an hour. No more free parking after 6pm. And no more free parking on Saturdays. On one hand it will be more convenient for those of us who don't carry cash to pay the meter with a debit or credit card. The deal is supposed to bring jobs to Indy. The city is supposed to benefit from this.
On the other hand, there is this article. I'll leave it up to you to decide.
Having worked at the Front Desk of our fine Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Downtown, I know what it's like to search for affordable parking downtown. I used to drive 30 miles to work before searching for a meter for 15 minutes. Then, working 3pm until 11pm, I would only have to pay $2.25 to park. For the same team members on the same shift today, it will cost them $6. Day shift will be $8.
Forget the garages near our downtown Indy hotel! If you want a monthly parking option! $90 to $160 for a non-reserved spot plus gas and food. It adds up. I understand the city's attraction to this deal...but I'm still waiting on someone to lower prices or offer personal value instead of increasing cost and decreasing value.
Stay tuned while I try to help keep the change in your pocket by offering our Indianapolis hotel packages, tips on free things to do downtown and offers of contests on our Facebook page for free stays and food. It's not much, but it's something. And guess what? When you stay with our green hotel Indianapolis, you can park for $14 a night...unlimited in and out privileges. No waking up at 7am after a night on the town to feed the meter.
