IUPUI University Place Closing but Hilton Garden Inn a Great Alternative

With the IUPUI University Place Hotel being turned into a student dorm and dining hall, our Indianapolis Downtown Hotel makes a great alternative for hotel accommodations when visiting campus. With our location less than two miles from the university, visitors and guests to IUPUI will find our convenient location and luxury accommodations to be the perfect fit for short or long term stays.

After 25 years of providing accommodations to visiting professors, sports teams and parents, the hotel has decided to close its doors. Over the last 7 years, it has been operating at a deficit so the expansion into a new university dorm and dining room will add new life to this well-known facility. Its closing and subsequent renovation is good news for students on the large waiting list for on campus housing. And because the University Place is in the heart of campus, student access is ideal. The conversion into student housing commences December 2012 with completion and student use starting the fall semester of 2013.

When staying in our historic hotel Indianapolis visitors will find themselves transported in time in a stylish setting that makes a stay with us truly memorable. For affordable Indianapolis hotel packages, make sure to check our hotel special page and then give us a call to reserve your room.

Luck Comes to Indy with Peyton Manning Leaving the Colts

As the saying goes, “all good things must come to an end,” and last week Indy’s own favorite star quarterback, Peyton Manning, was released from his position with the Indianapolis Colts. While the 4 time MVP is being courted by plenty of other NFL teams – namely the Broncos, Cardinals, Dolphins and Titans, Indy fans will surely miss the winning seasons and funny commercials that made him so beloved.

So while Manning decides which team to join, that doesn’t mean that Lucas Oil Stadium won’t be rocking when the Colts come back for next season. With Stanford standout, Andrew Luck, as quarterback, fans are sure to enjoy some legendary action when he hits the turf.  Of course, this is all speculation as the draft won't happen until the last weekend in April.  But Colts fans are crossing their fingers for a new start quarterback to replace Manning and assist in rebuilding a thinning team.

So NFL fans will want to get their Indianapolis Colt tickets early and plan on watching the new quarterback in action. Downtown Indy hotels are filling up quickly for the new season with excited fans planning to come out and support their team. As one of the premier hotels near Lucas Oil Stadium, the Hilton Garden Inn will keep you close to the all the football action with luxury rooms, fun amenities and nearby area attractions to keep you entertained and well fed in between games.
