At the beginning of this month we had a very great staff meeting. It included our whole hospitable Guest Service Crew (front desk and bellman) and our Award winning Sales Staff. They were paired up in 4 teams of four and sent out to the downtown streets on a Treasure Hunt. There were 15 tasks to complete. They had to prove the task was complete by taking a picture of person place or thing. There were also opportunities for bonus points by having more people in a photo and or making it creative. The whole point of this was to get them thinking outside the box and working together. Each team did a fantastic job but there can only be one winner! The winning team did just that they thought outside the box and worked together by doing things like breaking into our GM's office and showing our clients some of our core values (like recycling). The Dream Team won the Treasure Hunt and received $100 gift certificates to Mo's a Place for Steaks. ( thanks Mo's!!) I was also able to take something from the hunt, with each photo submitted I was able to remember why I love downtown so much. Downtown is beautiful, full of activity and is home to our wonderful staff of the Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis Downtown.
Our summer employee incentive program began June 1st . It’s called “Catch me at my Best”. Basically guests are encouraged to fill out a comment card if they felt they came in contact with a hotel employee that went above and beyond for them or made them feel important. Employees are also able to fill out cards to recognizes co-works at their BEST. This program runs until the end of August so “Catch” someone! At the end of the program we will have a big party and give away some awesome prizes!
As you know the month of May in Indianapolis is mayhem. Being an Indianapolis Downtown hotel we have to join in the fun. We want our guests to help us celebrate this month of May.... traditionally. What a better way than a Race Night. Tonight 5/13/09 and next Wednesday night 5/20/09 we will be hosting Race Night for our in-house guests to attend. We will have traditional race food and drinks along with your chance to take a lap, well a lap around our track that is. We have a race track set up in our lobby and will be having qualifications, which is really practice, and then the real race heats will begin at 7pm. I will be in the lobby around 5pm to get in some early practicing because I definitely need it.
If you are not into racing, you should still come down and watch myself and other staffers embarrass ourselves. This may not be the Greatest Spectacle in Racing but it will be a spectacle!!!
